Leading to Circularity: Prestige Paper Products at ProPak Philippines 2024

As the global community increasingly recognizes the urgency of environmental sustainability, industries worldwide are making coordinated efforts to align their practices with the principles of circularity and eco-consciousness.

ProPak Philippines 2024 served as a platform for such endeavors. From January 31 to February 2, at the World Trade Center in Pasay, this event brought together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to discuss the latest trends, technologies, and sustainable practices shaping the future.

Prestige Paper Products, recognized as Informa Markets’ Official Sustainability Partner, highlighted sustainable solutions in the packaging and processing industries.

Prestige Paper Products' Booth: A Showcase of Filipino Creativity and Sustainability

Among the busy exhibition halls of the event, Prestige Paper Products' booth stood out as a symbol of innovation and sustainability. Working together with Informa Markets and ProPak Philippines, their booth—aptly named The Sustainability Square—captured the attention of the attendees with its lively presentation of Filipino ingenuity.

They featured crafts and items created by Rolyolikha at Iba Pa Handicrafts, which were made from dried water lilies and Kilus Foundation, under the Pasig City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., which also showcased their products made from reused and recycled materials, highlighting the importance of using resources wisely and
taking care of our planet.

The booth confidently displayed the slogan "Leading to Circularity: Circling Back, Progressing Forward," representing the commitment of all these groups to sustainable practices. This invited attendees to join Prestige Paper Products on their journey towards a more sustainable future. It wasn't just about showcasing products; it was about inspiring collective action and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the planet.

Through the Sustainability Square, Prestige Paper Products transformed practical concepts of sustainability into tangible, actionable steps, empowering individuals to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.

The booth showcased the 7Rs of circularity, a comprehensive approach designed to foster sustainability. This holistic framework emphasized the importance of circular practices in minimizing waste, conserving resources, and promoting environmental stewardship.

  • Rethink: Reconsider how we use resources and find better ways to do things.
  • Reduce: Cut down on the amount of waste we produce.
  • Reuse: Give things a second life whenever possible instead of throwing them away.
  • Repair: Fix things instead of replacing them, saving resources and money.
  • Refurbish: Renovate and improve items to extend their lifespan.
  • Recover: Find ways to recover materials from waste for reuse or recycling.
  • Recycle: Turn waste into new products whenever possible, reducing the need for new materials.
These principles guide us towards a more sustainable future, where we can protect our environment while still enjoying the things we love. The Sustainability Square served as a reminder that by being creative and mindful of our impact, we can all contribute to a healthier planet for generations to come.

To further spread the message of sustainability, Prestige Paper Products’ Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Leah Marie Ayeng, took the stage at the ProPak Theater to lead a discussion entitled "Embracing Sustainable Packaging: A Response to EPR Act of 2022." This session served as a platform for attendees to discover sustainable packaging practices, particularly in response to the Environmental Protection and Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022.

Ms. Ayeng's insights provided attendees with valuable perspectives on navigating the evolving landscape of packaging regulations and highlighted strategies for integrating sustainable practices into their business operations. From understanding the legal requirements imposed by the EPR Act to exploring innovative approaches to packaging design and material sourcing, participants gained actionable knowledge to drive positive change within their organizations.

Prestige Paper Products underscored the urgent need for environmental consciousness. Through partnerships with Informa Markets, the Pasig City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., and Rolyolikha at Iba Pa Handicrafts, Prestige Paper Products made sustainable packaging practices more accessible to MSMEs. This not only helps the environment but also boosts cost savings and brand value.
